VMware Workstation 16 Pro for Linux and Windows

Compare

VMware Workstation 16 Pro is a hypervisor tool that allows you to run multiple operating systems as virtual machines on a single physical machine. Each virtual machine (VM) can run its own operating system and apps, all concurrently with the host machine. VMware Workstation is developed and sold by VMware, Inc., and there’s also a free-of-charge version for non-commercial use called VMware Workstation Player, as well as a 30-day trial for VMware Workstation Pro. VMware Pro 12.x and above only support 64-bit host operating systems. VMware allows you to simultaneously run operating systems like various versions of Microsoft Windows (including Windows 11), Linux (including Ubuntu and Red Hat distributions), BSD, and MS-DOS. It also includes the ability to group multiple VMs in a folder, treating them as a single entity for powering on and off, beneficial for complex client-server testing.

Key Features:

  • Container and Kubernetes Support: It supports containers and Kubernetes clusters in VMs, with Docker and Kubernetes IN Docker 0.9.0 support.
  • DirectX and OpenGL Support: Enjoy DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.1 (and 4.3) support for VMs, improving graphics performance.
  • Improved OVF/OVA Support: For enhanced testing and experimentation within the workstation.
  • Huge Monster VMs: Ramp up VMs to 32 vCPUs, 128GB of RAM, 8TB disks, and 10 NICs.
  • Hyper-V, DirectX 12, Vulkan Support: You can now concurrently use Hyper-V features alongside VMware, and Vulkan Rendering Engine support has been added for both co: 1>Linux and Windows hosts.
  • Improved Security: With advanced CPU and memory controls and a VMX memory sandbox, VMware adds extra layers of security.

  • New User Interface: VMware features a new GTK+ 3-based UI for Linux
  • ESXi Host Power Operations:** VMware now supports performing co: 5>power operations on ESXi hosts like shutdown, restart, and entering/exiting maintenance mode.
  • Network Latency Simulator: Simulate real-world network scenarios by configuring complex IPv4 and IPv6 virtual networks for VMs.
  • 3D Graphics Support: DirectX 11 and OpenGL are supported, ensuring a responsive and fluid experience for 3D applications
