StarTool FDM: Unified file and data management

StarTool FDM offers a comprehensive, unified environment for editing and managing PDS, PDSE, sequential, extended sequential, direct, DB2, and VSAM files (including their contents). It simplifies file management tasks and eliminates the need for multiple tools, batch utilities, and homegrown routines within the data center.

StarTool FDM offers one-step solutions to the most common problems that applications and systems programmers face when working on complex data and file management tasks. StarTool FDM integrates with ChangeMan ZMF so you can quickly view change history to understand why and when changes were made, as well as who made them, in order to reduce poor application performance or outages.

StarTool DA: Intelligent dump analysis and debugging

StarTool DA offers a full-featured debugging interface to help developers diagnose the cause of batch and CICS AbEnd conditions using automated dump diagnostics and interactive call tracing support. It displays failing instructions down to the source code level. It manages the archival and retrieval AbEnds and monitors trends over time to deliver high availability for infrastructure and applications. Optional debugging support for IBM DB2 and IMS database AbEnds is also available.

StarTool IOO: Load module management and simplification

StarTool IOO dynamically tunes the major components of application processing functions to achieve dramatic throughput improvements. StarTool IOO allows programs written in any language (including COBOL) to use Local Shared Resources (LSR) when the program is dynamically or randomly accessing a VSAM file.

StarTool IOO dynamically optimizes buffers and start I/Os for QSAM, BSAM, and sequential EXCP I/Os, improving performance as much as 75%. It optimizes physical sequential data sets, permanent and temporary, including data sets generated by most utilities. With StarTool IOO, you can save up to 50% elapsed time for DB2 unloads and reloads, and up to 40% elapsed time for IDMS sweeps.
